How Does Invisalign® Work?
During your consultation, your doctor will thoroughly evaluate your teeth and general oral health to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign®. If you are a good fit, we will take impressions of your teeth to create your first set of customized, removable aligners.
You will receive different sets of aligners throughout the duration of your treatment, each of which you will wear for two weeks. Gradually, the aligners will move your teeth into the proper position and appropriately adjust your bite. We recommend wearing aligners for at least 22 hours per day, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss.
Why Invisalign® Offers the Best Solution
Invisalign® is often used to treat many of the same malocclusion issues that are corrected with traditional metal braces, including:
- Crooked teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Open bite
- Crossbite
As opposed to traditional braces, which are permanently attached to the teeth and are made of potentially irritating metal and wires, clear Invisalign® trays are comfortable and convenient.
Invisalign® can provide a virtually invisible alternative to traditional braces, helping you to achieve a more balanced, functional, and aesthetically pleasing smile.
Made from smooth, BPA-free plastic, the aligners fit seamlessly against the teeth, reducing the chances of gum irritation. The aligners can also be removed during meals or on special occasions, providing unsurpassed convenience. Patients are free to eat what they enjoy, without worrying about foods becoming lodged between metal brackets.
Patients can simply remove the Invisalign® trays while they eat, then thoroughly clean their teeth and reinsert the aligners.
Invisalign® Treatment Timeline
While the timeframe for the entire treatment may vary depending upon the degree of correction required, most patients will typically wear their aligners for between nine months and one year. After treatment is complete, some patients may choose to further enhance their smile with one of our additional cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening or a smile makeover procedure.
Invisalign® is one of the most advanced orthodontic treatments on the market today, and has improved the aesthetics of many of our patients’ smiles. Whether you have minor crowding, misaligned teeth, or large gaps, we will work together to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
